Cats & Kittens Looking For Homes (December 2013)

For further information about adopting or fostering any of these cats / kittens,
please contact Jane on 07977 555238 / 01327 858238
or Sarah on 01327 341826

Please note that all adoptions are subject to a home check and an adoption fee

 Tamsin

Tamsin is very friendly and approximately 19 months old. She came to us from Milton Keynes as a stray with two kittens who have since been re homed. She is neutered and chipped. She is alright with other cats but would probably prefer to be the only cat. She gets a bit carried away when being fussed so she is not suitable to live with young children. Tamsin is currently staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Dolly

Dolly is very pretty and full of beans, very playful and boisterous. She can get a bit carried away out of enthusiasm and attention seeking rather than any sort of aggression. As soon as you open the door she is there looking for attention. She tends to keep away from the other cats but does not show them any aggression. She is not suitable to live with young children. She is neutered and chipped and currently staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

 Snowy

Snowy is a very handsome pure white male who is approximately 1 - 1 1/2 years old. He is very playful and loves to be fussed. He can be a bit scratchy, which may be due to abuse or could just be in desperation to play, but for this reason he cannot be homed with young children.  He is neutered and micro-chipped and currently staying in Daventry. If you are interested in Snowy, please call Sarah on 01327 341826. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Maud has been adopted with Daisy 1

Maud is a very sweet pretty grey and white female. She has only just come into our care and is still very shy, so she is currently being assessed. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Purdie (was Bertie)

Purdie is a lovely black and white female born in 2003.  She is very friendly, loves laps and sleeping on the bed. She is fine with children and does not seem at all bothered by other cats, but we are not sure how she is with dogs. She will make someone a wonderful companion. She is neutered, fully vaccinated and will be micro chipped. Purdie is currently staying in a foster home in Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

  Nut & Bolt

Nut and Bolt were found scared and abandoned with their mother. Nut is a pretty female tortoiseshell and Bolt is a handsome black and white male. Both are feral and have been neutered. They are looking for an outside home together on a farm / stable. They must have a secure place to be shut in for at least 2 weeks prior to releasing. They are currently staying in a foster home near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

   Giggs & Eric

Giggs and Eric are both very affectionate and loving 3 year old black and white females! They are reluctantly having to be re homed as their present owners moved to live on a narrow boat and both cats have fallen into the water numerous times. Luckily the owners were there, heard them fall in and were able to get them out, but they are terrified that the worst may happen. Both cats are neutered, chipped and vaccinated. They need to be re homed together and are not used to young children. Please call Sarah on 01327 341826 if you can offer them a safe home. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Jaz & Beanie still need a home

Jaz (Jasmine) and Beanie are both 18 months old. Jaz is a beautiful pure white female and Beanie is an adorable black female. They are neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Both girls are very friendly, playful, affectionate cats who need to be re-homed together. They are both very good with dogs and other cats. Jaz and Beanie are currently staying in a foster home in Banbury. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Ruby & Maisie have been adopted

Ruby is a very beautiful tortoiseshell and white neutered female born in March 2012, and Maisie is her gorgeous tabby daughter born in July 2013. They need to be re homed as their owners lost their home and could no longer take care of them. We need to find them a home together as they love to play with each other. They are adorable very affectionate and friendly cats. Ruby and Maisie are currently staying in a foster home near Daventry. Please call Sarah on 01327 341826. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Diva

Diva is a lovely black and white female about 19 weeks old. She has been diagnosed with possible food intolerance and is currently on a restricted diet. She is quite nervous and small for her age, so a home without young children would be preferred. She is neutered and chipped. Diva is currently staying in a foster home near Daventry with Molly. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Caspar is reserved

Caspar is a beautiful white male kitten born August 2013. He has blue eyes and he is not deaf as some white cats are. He is the sweetest kitten you could hope for and is very loving. He tends to suckle your clothes while padding! He is alright with quiet dogs and with other cats. Caspar is currently staying in a foster home near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Kittens cannot be re-homed alone unless there is already a young cat there to play with.

Harvey

Harvey is a lovely black and white short haired male. We do not know very much about him and we are currently assessing him, but he seems very sweet though a little shy at first.  Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Minnie & Jessie

Minnie is a very pretty tortoiseshell cat who is approximately 11 years old.
She has been used to being  a house cat for the last few years. Sadly her owner has died and she needs to find a quiet home with her companion Jessie who is a very beautiful 12 year old rough collie. They are currently staying in a foster home in Banbury. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Hetty

Hetty is very affectionate but not very keen on other cats.  She is very sweet and would prefer to be the only cat and have her human's full undivided attention! She is neutered and chipped and currently staying in a foster home near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Ginny is reserved

Ginny is a very beautiful semi long haired ginger tabby approximately 1 year old. She came in as a stray found between Newnham and Badby. She is very friendly but tends to chew you when being very loving, so only suitable with older children used to cats. Ginny is not that keen on other cats but shows no aggression towards them. She is chipped and neutered and is currently staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Mac, Bobby & (Hattie is reserved)

Mac, Bobby and Hattie are brothers and sister, born on the 11th August. Mac is a ginger  tabby and white, Bobby is a ginger tabby and Hattie is a very pretty tortoiseshell and white. They are all chipped and will have to be neutered at 5 months old. They are currently staying in a foster home near Towcester. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Mila & Boo

Mila and Boo are both 1 1/2 year old black and white females. They are looking for a home together and are not used to young children. They are neutered, chipped and vaccinated. Mila and Boo are currently staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Harley & Felix have been adopted

Harley and Felix (Felicia) are black and white sisters, who are nearly 6 months old. They are neutered, vaccinated and chipped. They are very sweet and playful little girls. Harley and Felix are currently staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

She is fine with other cats. Daisy is currently being assessed and is staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Daisy 2

Daisy (2) has just come into our care, she is a lovely black and white neutered female approximately 2 years old.  Sadly she has been badly treated and kicked so she spits and hisses. She needs a very patient person to adopt or foster her to help her to trust people again and not be afraid of them. For this reason she cannot be re-homed with children. Daisy is currently being assessed and is staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Crate Or Not To Crate

To Crate Or Not To Crate

I always promote crating of dogs. Why? For lots of reasons. From your dogs point of view it is more like the place they would choose for themselves. Dogs in the wild would sleep in a hollow in the ground or an outcrop of rock or anywhere where they would be protected on three sides (and above) with one side to look out of to see any approaching danger. Dogs will normally lie against or under something in the home. Crates (or cages) are invaluable. They are brilliant for travelling. They help enormously with stressed and anxious dogs. Both prevention and cure and also with house training. They are a sanctuary when the dog wants some peace and quiet away from the kids or visitors or to take refuge from thunder for example. It should never be used as a punishment or used for excessive lengths of time.

Crate training can be done at any age, though it may take a little longer with an older dog. It has to be done gradually. The crate needs to be big enough for your dog to lie flat out in and high enough for it to stand or sit up in. It shouldn’t be too much bigger than this especially if it’s to help with house training. They are made from a variety of materials from metal and plastic to fabric ones. The crate needs to be away from draughts and out of direct sunlight and not against a radiator. It’s best to cover in up with a blanket or something leaving the front uncovered. You can move the crate from room to room Put the dog’s bed in there, make sure it’s his only bed, feed him in the crate and place his toys in there, just inside the door initially. Once he starts to go in to get his food etc you can gradually move them further in so he has to enter the crate. The door is left open at this stage. He will soon choose to go in there to sleep, when he is comfortable with this you can bolt the door quietly behind him when he is asleep. When he wakes don’t open the door immediately give him a second or two. Then, as long as he is comfortable with it leave it a little bit longer each time. You need to be in the same room as the dog initially so you are always there when he wakes. Then you can leave the room for a short time and working up to leaving the house for a minute or two, gradually increasing the time left, until he is happy and feels safe in there.
