Dogs and Puppies Looking For Homes (June 15)

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ANY OF THESE DOGS, PLEASE CONTACT JANE ON 07977 555238 OR EMAIL LISA@ALGERNONTRUST.ORG.UK

Please note that all adoptions are subject to a home check and an adoption fee

Sam (SAM IS RESERVED)

Sam is a beautiful Parsons Jack Russell Terrier, he was rehomed by us as a young boy, however has come back into our care after his loving owner has become too ill to care for him.  Sam is now 10 years old, he is very active and playful. He is adorable & loves people, he is well behaved. Hasn't lived with other dogs and we dont know how he is with cats, he is currently staying in kennels where he will be assessed with other dogs. Adoption subject to homecheck and adoption fee.

JJ

3 year old JJ is looking for a new home after he was abandoned by his previous family. JJ has lived with other dogs & children, due to his size he will be looking for an experienced home with older children only. JJ is currently staying in kennels. Adoption subject to homecheck & adoption fee

Hannah

Hannah is a gorgeous 5 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is very good on the lead and in the car. She is incredibly friendly and good with people, including children, she needs to be the only animal in her home though as she doesn't like other dogs or cats at all. Hannah has come back into our care after her family's living arrangements changed meaning she was no longer able to live with them.  Hannah is currently staying at the Sanctuary. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Zara (Zara is reserved)
7 year old Zara is a German Shepherd, she has come into our care after her terminally ill owner had to move to a hospice.  Sadly as the health of her owner deteriorated she has lost her usual routine and not been used to regular routines for some time.  She will initially need firm boundaries to help her settle back into a routine of home life.  She has not lived with dogs previously, although this could be considered with an experience home.  She is not used to children and isnt known with cats.  Zara is currently staying at the Sanctuary.  Adoption subject to homecheck and adoption fee.

Tirry (Tirry is reserved

Tirry is around 7 years old and came into our care after being rescued from the streets of Romania She is a very loving dog who just wants to be cuddled and touched. Attention for her is everything be it good or bad. She isn't aggressive to people, but does jump up, so can't be homed with little people under the age of 8. She is living with another dog in her foster home, but he is very submissive and just wants to play. She can be aggressive with other dogs when out walking, in Romania she would have had to fight for her place and it is likely that is what she is trying to do here. She would be better more suited in a home as an only dog, or with a male that would be submissive/no threat to her. She is about to start some socialisation classes to help her with this issue. She is not at all bothered by cats and is generally just interested in food!
Tirry has sustained an injury to her back legs at some point before she came to the UK, she has had some hair loss, likely through the stress of her travel & therefore the scars can be seen, it does not seem to trouble her in any way.
Out and about Tirry is really good on the lead. She'll just trot quite happily beside or just in front of you. Tirry is currently staying in a foster home near Banbury while she finds her permanent home. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Carly

I’m Carly and I'm around 2 years old, I like other dogs and dont chase cats,  I am looking for an experienced loving home where I can further my training with someone who knows how to show me. I could live with a calm dog & I need a home with no children please. I am currently staying in kennels.  Adoption subject to home check & adoption fee

Nemo & Florrie

Nemo & Florrie have been staying in kennels since early this summer on a temporary basis & were hoping to return to their family, however this hasn’t been possible so they are now looking for a new home. Nemo is a stunning dark eyed husky, around 3 years old & Florrie is a Papillon Cross, around 5 years old. They are beautiful dogs who are bonded & ideally are looking for a home together.  They are friendly, although Florrie can be a little snappy so they are looking for a home without children & no cats as we don’t know how they are with cats.  They are currently staying in boarding kennels.  Adoption subject to homecheck & adoption fee

Marcus

Marcus is a 3 year old Staffie cross, who is delightful and very well behaved.
He likes to have lots of fuss and loves to play with other dogs, preferring females. He would love a home where he gets lots of attention and exercise.  He is lucky enough to be staying in a foster home in Leicestershire. Here is a video clip of Marcus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7f_sJ-FIbo Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Billy

4 year old Billy is a lovely, friendly chap, he pulls on the lead but knows basic commands and is very well behaved. He seems to be ok with other dogs and isn’t known with cats. He is looking for a foster or forever home & is currently staying in kennels.  Here is a short video clip of Billy http://youtu.be/O0QT1WGs-Ak & .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ39JtAsKB0
Adoption subject to homecheck & adoption fee.

Skipper

Skipper is thought to be around 5 years old and is a very affectionate Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He has had a rough time judging by the sores and bald patches that were on him when he first arrived into our care. Remarkably he is still an incredibly loving dog and he really enjoys his home comforts and likes to be warm! He is good with other dogs but would probably prefer not to share his humans.  His training is to a good level, he is clean in the house and knows his commands, he is good on & off the lead.  He does get excited when people visit & is currently receiving training to stop his jumping! He is no problems left home when his foster carer goes out & will happily find a warm spot to curl up & watch her whilst gardening etc!  His favourite walk is along the river bank where he loves to explore & leap around, it is thought that he would really enjoy & be good at agility. He is currently staying in a foster home in Northamptonshire where he has progressed hugely both physically and behaviourally & he is now ready to find a forever home to call his own. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Casper ****CASPER IS RESERVED****

Casper was an unclaimed stray in the pound who was saved from being put to sleep. He is a 3-4 year old male Staffie cross.. He is friendly and said to be good with other dogs but not cats. Casper needs a home with someone who is prepared to work on his training. He is a very friendly chap and good with commands and very gentle taking treats . BOWE

Adorable Bowe is a Collie cross Dalmation. At 8 years old, he is very playful & would benefit from an active home. He is incredibly friendly & loves his ball! He has previously had bad experiences with children so is looking for a home without children. He has not lived with other dogs and can be unpredictable, he is therefore looking for a home with no other pets. Bowe is currently staying at the Sanctuary. You can see a short video of Bowe at HTTP://YOUTU.BE/DDE6_CBW7IE AND http://youtu.be/UAEwRT5P1mw Adoption subject to homecheck & adoption fee

Tia

Cute Tia is a fox terrier cross, 2 years old.  Tia had an awful start to her life, taken very young from her mom she went to live with people who mistreated her.  She came into the care of the trust at just 10 weeks old, nervous of everything & everyone.

Tia responded well to a kind home & positive training methods helped her to flourish & grow her confidence.  Signs of her early life still show from time to time, although Tia is a happy & friendly dog with people & situations she knows well she still is nervous around strangers & needs an experienced home who have the confidence to continue her training & help her grow her confidence further.  Tia is incredibly loyal, a very intelligent dog, eager to please & learns new things quickly.  She knows basic commands, sit, down, stay, wait, walks reasonably well on a lead & has good recall off lead, she can however be easily distracted so she is generally not let off lead when there are other people or dogs around who she doesnt know.  She is ok with other dogs she knows but isnt keen on bouncy dogs or dogs who bark at her.

Tia is currently living with another dog of a similar age who has her own issues & although they both like each other generally, they have always been boisterous together, this was manageable until a serious fight a few months ago which resulted in Tia needing stitches, this has altered the relationship between the two dogs & despite professional behaviour support, neither dog are able to further progress with their individual issues as their issues together are preventing this, Tia has started to become more territorial & both dogs are unhappy in an environment where everyonehumans & dogs alike, fear a further fight.  It is therefore sadly accepted that it is unfair for either dog to continue living together & that Tia would be suited to an experienced home with no other dogs to complicate things for her.  Both dogs are taken out in public to socialise them but as with many things, their issues between each other can get in the way.  Last year Tia enjoyed a holiday with her family during which time she was able to overcome her fear of water & learn to swim which she would love the opportunity to do again!  Tia is ok travelling in the car although she does get car sick.

Tia is used to having someone at home most of the time but she isnt a needy dog & settles well on her own if left in her crate, which she also sleeps in at night, she will also benefit from being able to have toys to stimulate her which currently she can only play with toys in one to one sessions with one of her humans as toys cause fights between the two dogs.  She looks forward to her daily walk whatever the weather & in hot weather she loves to get in the field early enough to run through long grass whilst the dew is on it!

Tia couldnt be trusted with cats or small furries, she once chased a hare across a field so is tended not to be let off lead in areas where they are known to appear!  Tia hasnt lived with children, due to her nervousness & unpredictable behaviour when she is uncomfortable she is looking for a home with adults only who are experienced & confident to help her flourish further & overcome more of her fears.

Here is a video clip of Tia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzkCFd72LUI&feature=youtu.be

Adoption subject to homecheck & adoption fee.

Cats & Kittens Looking For Homes (June 15)

For further information about adopting or fostering any of these cats / kittens,
please contact Penny on 01327 310945 (please leave a message if not available)
or Sarah on 07811 636385 (please text first if possible)

Please note that all adoptions are subject to a home check and an adoption fee

Kittens cannot be homed singularly unless in a home where a youngish cat already lives. We cannot home kittens with very young children, preferably not under 4 years old. Adopters must also agree to neuter kittens at 5 months old which has to be confirmed by a vet.
All cats or kittens cannot be adopted in a home on/near a busy road.

Timothy *is reserved*

Timothy is a large tabby/white boy born approx 2010. He came in as a stray from Boughton. He used to follow the couple to the pub and wait for them to come out and follow them back home! They could not keep him as their resident cat did not get on with him. He wants to be friendly but has been known to try and bite your hand and have the odd swipe at times, so for that reason a home without young children is needed.  Timothy doesn't seem to like it at all when dogs come near his pen so he is looking for a home without dogs too. He is chipped and was neutered last year hence his large ‘tom cat’ face! He is currently staying at the sanctuary. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Timothy is not yet ready to go to a new home but he can be reserved.

Molly

Molly is a lovely female tabby born in 2006, who needs a new home as her owner moved and could not take her. She is a timid girl but friendly when she gets to know you. Molly would love a nice quiet home and is alright with other cats at the sanctuary. She ischipped and neutered and an indoor/outdoor cat. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Benny

Benny is a handsome black and white male, born in 2005, with unusual markings to his face. He needs a new home due to a relationship breakup and move to rented accommodation which does not allow pets. He has lived with children and other cats and is a very friendly happy cat. He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped. Benny takes tablets twice a day for hyperthyroidism. He is currently being fostered near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Penny on 01327 310945.

Socks

Beautiful Socks is around 4 years old, she has been with her current owners since she was a kitten, straight away they noticed her behaviour was different from previous cats they'd had and the vet advised that Socks was most likely born feral or semi feral.  Having followed all advice given, as she's grown older, Socks has become less and less comfortable around people and more aggressive towards them. It is thought that she would be happier in a yard or stable environment where she is able to have more space and keep a comfortable distance from the humans who keep her safe! She is neutered and currently living in Greatworth. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please call Lisa on 07764 219991.

Polly

Due to allergies in the family Polly came into our care with Ziggy, who has been adopted separately as they had no close bond. She is a black female born in September 2009. Her previous owner told us that she is very affectionate and does like to hunt, and can also be very vocal with her greetings! Now she has settled in she seems fine with the other cats at the sanctuary and doesn't seem too bothered by the dogs when they walk past. Polly is a lovely chatty and friendly girl. She is neutered, chipped and vaccinated. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Poppy *has been adopted*

Poppy was born in 2010. She has had a very unsettled life and been bullied by other cats so is now aggressive towards them, so she needs a home on her own and without very young children. She likes to come and go but does not like being shut in or out so her new home must have a cat flap. She is a lovely girl and has a very healthy appetite! Poppy is chipped and neutered and currently staying in Bampton in Oxfordshire. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.
Please contact Sarah on 07811 636385.

Shadow

Shadow is a very sweet little girl born in 2011. She came into our care last August, as a stray with a very bad skin allergy and hardly any fur. Since then she has been treated and her fur has re grown apart from her tail which is slowly improving. She is very friendly and has a very loud purr, almost like a rattle! Shadow is chipped and neutered, and currently being fostered near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Penny on 01327 310945.

Mowser

Mowser is a very sweet black short haired female, born in 2005, who came into our care as a stray. She is currently staying at the Trust and would love a new home. A home without young children would be preferred. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Taz & Onyx

Taz came into our care with his mum Onyx due to their owner being unable to find pet friendly accommodation. Taz who is dark brown, is a long haired male born in late 2008, he is a friendly boy, loves a fuss and is very vocal! Onyx born in 2007 is very dark brown almost black, she was rescued by her previous owner as she was being used as a breeder. She is said to be a Burmese but possibly of the American strain, she is friendly once she gets to know you and loves being a lap cat. They both like to go outdoors but have not been used to a cat flap. Taz and Onyx have previously lived with dogs and are alright with children. They are neutered, chipped and currently being fostered near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Penny on 01327 310945.
Although we would prefer Taz & Onyx to be re homed together, they can be adopted separately.

Jewel & Raven ( are reserved )

Jewel has come into our care following an appalling case of cruelty. She had kittens, which her owner killed and then she was thrown out onto the street. She is a very beautiful tortoiseshell approximately 6-8 months old. We also now have Raven who is Jewel's sister. She is a lovely all black female who has also suffered the same terrible cruelty. Both sisters have a tight bond, they lick each other and sleep together, so they must be homed together. They will both be chipped and neutered as soon as it is safe to do so, but they can be seen and reserved. These sweet little girls are looking for the loving home they so rightly deserve. Jewel and Raven are currently being fostered near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Archie & Pippa

Archie and Pippa were born in July 2014 and are very friendly, affectionate purry cats! Archie is grey and white and Pippa black and white. They have come into our care due to an allergy in the family and are looking for a home where they can stay together. They have been used to living with children of all ages from toddlers to teens, though we feel they may be happier living with older children only as Pippa is a little bit timid.  They are now neutered, chipped and vaccinated, and currently being fostered near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Penny on 01327 310945.

Tippy

Tippy came in to our care with his mum Duffy and his brother and sisters after being found as strays in Towcester. The Kittens were born in April 2014 and Tippy who is a black and white male with a white tip to his tail (hence his name!) is the only one who has not yet been adopted. He needs a home with no other cats, and as he is quite timid, no young children. He is chipped, neutered and vaccinated. Tippy is presently being fostered near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Penny on 01327 310945.

Snowball

Snowball was born in July 2013, he is a pure white neutered male. Very timid and will need time to adjust to a new home. When he is feeling secure (generally in the evening) he is very friendly and has a loud purr. He is chipped, neutered and fully vaccinated and needs a quiet home without children. He loves to spend a lot of time outside and does like hunting so a home with plenty of outdoor space or a small holding would be ideal for him.Snowball does have a slight heart murmur and is currently being fostered near Daventry. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Penny on 01327 310945.

Ace

Ace, born in 2006, is a very petite black female with a fleck of white on her chest.  She is a bit nervous and easily scared, and doesn't like loud noises especially the hoover. Occasionally she enjoys a cuddle on your lap whilst purring and likes to be stroked when she can see your hands. She loves dry food and some jelly food especially chicken flavour, and she loves stick treats! Ace also loves cat nip as it makes her go funny and she likes to play with her toys a lot when they have cat nip in them! She is currently staying at the Trust and although she has lived with other cats, she is very scared of the ones at the sanctuary so urgently needs to find a quiet home with no other pets or children. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Willow

Willow is a pretty little black female who has come into our care having been found as a stray in Milton Keynes. She is neutered and chipped and approximately 4 years old. She is not keen on other cats, but she is a friendly, though slightly timid, little girl. Willow is currently staying at the Trust.  Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Nala

Nala is a very beautiful grey tortoiseshell born in July 2011. She is looking for a new home as her owner didn't want her any more after the arrival of a new dog. She is a lovely very friendly girl but doesn't seem too keen on the other cats so we think she would prefer a home as the only cat. We also think she would only be suitable with older children as she loves being stroked but does let you know when she's had enough! Nala is chipped and neutered, and currently staying at the Trust.  Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Diva

Diva is a lovely black and white female born around June 2013. She is quite nervous and very timid so she needs a nice quiet home without children. She is neutered, chipped and vaccinated. Diva is currently staying in a foster home near Daventry and likes the fosterer's dogs and is fine with non aggressive cats. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Penny on 01327 310945.

Maui & Fuzz

Maui is a lovely female tabby born in 2010/11 and Fuzz is her daughter, she is a very pretty tabby and white born in 20012. They also came into our care with Smudge, a large black and white male who has been homed separately as he did not have such a close bond. They are both very beautiful, friendly, affectionate cats who love being fussed and have previously lived with children. Maui and Fuzz must be re homed together. They are currently staying at the sanctuary, and are neutered and micro chipped. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.

Lester

Lester came into our care with Lainie after being tragically found dumped, both in a very bad state, in a cardboard box in Daventry. Lainie very sadly passed away after a short illness. Lester is a white male who came in very thin but he is slowly putting on weight. He is a lovely cat, we think he is approximately 8 years old and most likely Lainie was his sister. He is neutered and chipped and currently being fostered in Potterspury. Lester is being treated for hyperthyroidism and we think after everything he has been through, he deserves and would dearly love a warm and loving new home. He is not keen on other cats so a nice quiet home as the only pet would be ideal. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Sarah on 07811 636385.

Almo

Almo is an adorable Peterbald cross born in 2012. He is very affectionate, loves to be cuddled and sit on your lap. He isn’t too keen on being picked up, but never scratches or bites. He needs a fosterer or new home with no other pets or young children as he has lived in two previous very busy households and has issues with inappropriate messing, advised by the vets to be due to stress. He will therefore need patience and understanding. Almo is neutered and chipped and currently staying near Bicester. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee. Please contact Sarah on 07811 636385.

Simon

Simon has come in to our care from being a stray, born in March 2012. Initially he can be a bit scratchy but once settled in is very loving and likes to play and be picked up. He will need plenty of time to settle into a new home, but with understanding owners he will be a super very affectionate boy. We feel he may be best as an only cat and he is not suitable to live with children. He is neutered and chipped, and currently staying at the Trust. Adoption subject to home check and adoption fee.
